Our History

More than 50 years of growth and industry leadership
B&G’s rise to the top didn’t happen overnight, it took decades. We started as a small camshaft shop back in the 1950′s, growing along with Northwestern oil and gas and mining exploration. As our capabilities grew, so did our customer base. Today, our state-of-the art facilities in Seattle, WA spans nearly 80,000 square feet and provides us the ideal location from which to build, re-manufacture and service industrial diesel engines from across North America, Europe, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific Rim.
Here’s a brief timeline of B&G Machine’s history:
1953
B&G Machine founded in Seattle, WA as industrial camshaft specialist
1954-1969
B&G expands, driven by growth in Alaskan oil, mining industries
1970
Company becomes a full-service industrial diesel shop
1986
B&G begins an ongoing commitment to employ the most advanced technology in the industry. This becomes the cornerstone of the company’s reputation as the premier source of remanufactured engine components.
1987-1990
B&G undergoes major expansion; begins build-out of state-of-the-art industrial diesel shop
1993
B&G named “Machine Shop of the Year” by
Engine Builder Magazine, the leading national publication for professional engine rebuilders.
1997
B&G becomes the leading independent industrial diesel shop in the Northwest
1998
Company expands into new markets, including mining, marine, stationary power, and oil and gas. Begins building Caterpillar 34 and 35 series engines. B&G’s footprint now includes all of the Western U.S. and Canada.
2001
Engine rebuild business expands. B&G enters into strategic relationships with Cummins, MTU & Komatsu distribution networks
2002-2006
Business expands to include full line of industrial diesel engine building, re-manufacturing and OEM machining services.
2006
B&G opens a new engine assembly facility housing one of the largest dynos in the world.
2008
B&G customer base grows to cover North America, Pacific Rim, Latin America and Europe.
2009
B&G is one of the world’s leading independent industrial diesel service companies. Its engines are in service around the globe, on land and sea, from the Arctic circle to the south pole.
